Descubriendo el talento a través de las Artes Visuales

¿Cómo puede un ejercicio cotidiano de clase convertirse en la oportunidad para descubrir un talento artístico excepcional?
Cada año, las clases de Artes Visuales nos brindan nuevas oportunidades para identificar y potenciar habilidades sobresalientes en nuestros estudiantes. En la electiva de Fotografía, uno de los primeros ejercicios consiste en la elaboración de storyboards, una herramienta fundamental para comprender los diferentes planos y encuadres que posteriormente serán aplicados en proyectos fotográficos y audiovisuales.
Durante este semestre, los estudiantes han trabajado en la creación de historias inspiradas en el tema “Más allá de las estrellas”, desarrollando secuencias visuales mediante dibujos que les permiten planificar sus fotografías y fortalecer su capacidad narrativa. Aunque el enfoque principal de la asignatura es la fotografía, el dibujo continúa siendo una herramienta esencial para visualizar ideas, organizar escenas y comunicar conceptos creativos antes de capturarlos con la cámara.
A través de este proceso creativo y de las actividades diagnósticas iniciales, se han evidenciado importantes habilidades artísticas relacionadas con la observación, la composición visual y el diseño de imágenes. En particular, ha destacado el trabajo de Sara Juliana Ocampo, quien ha demostrado un notable talento para el dibujo y la representación visual de historias mediante el uso consciente de diferentes planos y encuadres. Sus bocetos reflejan dedicación, práctica constante y una sólida comprensión de los elementos visuales necesarios para construir narrativas significativas.
Los trabajos realizados servirán como base para futuros proyectos fotográficos y podrán formar parte de convocatorias y espacios de exposición artística durante el año escolar. Este proyecto reafirma la importancia de las Artes Visuales como un espacio para descubrir talentos, fortalecer la confianza en sí mismos y promover formas auténticas e innovadoras de expresión visual.

How can a simple classroom exercise become an opportunity to discover extraordinary artistic talent?
Every year, our Visual Arts classes provide new opportunities to identify and nurture exceptional student talents. In the Photography Elective, one of the first activities involves creating storyboards to understand different camera shots and compositions that will later be applied to photographic and audiovisual projects.
Throughout this semester, students have been developing visual narratives inspired by the theme “Beyond the Stars.” Through storyboard drawings, they have planned scenes, organized ideas, and strengthened their ability to communicate stories visually. Although photography is the primary focus of the course, drawing remains an essential tool for visualizing concepts, organizing compositions, and expressing creative ideas before capturing them through the camera lens.
Through this creative process and the initial diagnostic activities, students have demonstrated important artistic skills related to observation, visual composition, and image design. In particular, Sara Juliana Ocampo has stood out for her remarkable talent in drawing and visual storytelling. Her work reflects dedication, consistent practice, and a strong understanding of the visual elements required to create meaningful narratives through the use of different shots and compositional strategies.
The storyboards developed during this stage will serve as the foundation for future photographic projects and may become part of artistic showcases and exhibitions throughout the school year. By integrating drawing, photography, and storytelling, students discover how different visual languages can work together to communicate ideas effectively.
This project highlights the importance of Visual Arts as a space for discovering and developing talent, building confidence, and encouraging meaningful creative expression. Through experiences like these, students strengthen their artistic skills while sharing their unique perspectives with the broader school community.
