Historias que nacen de las imágenes

En Transición estamos descubriendo que leer también es mirar, imaginar, interpretar y contar. De la mano de los cuentos del escritor colombiano Ivar Da Coll, estamos explorando las historias de Chigüiro, libros maravillosos que, a través de sus ilustraciones y sin necesidad de texto escrito, invitan a los niños a construir sus propias narraciones.

Esta experiencia fortalece habilidades fundamentales para el aprendizaje de la lectura y la escritura: observar con atención, interpretar imágenes, ampliar el vocabulario, expresar ideas, organizar secuencias y dar sentido a lo que vemos. Cada niño puede convertirse en narrador y descubrir que una imagen también puede contar una gran historia.

Además, Chigüiro es un personaje muy cercano y significativo para nuestros niños, pues representa un animal propio de nuestro entorno y de nuestra cultura. En días pasados tuvimos una visita muy especial: ¡Chigüiro llegó al salón con el cuento La chiva! Fue una oportunidad para imaginar, conversar y disfrutar juntos de esta particular manera de leer.

Seguiremos explorando las aventuras de Chigüiro y descubriendo que, cuando abrimos un libro, no siempre necesitamos palabras para encontrar historias maravillosas; a veces, basta con mirar, imaginar y dejar volar la creatividad.

Stories Born from Images

In First Grade, we are discovering that reading also means looking, imagining, interpreting, and telling. Through the stories of Colombian writer Ivar Da Coll, we are exploring the stories of Chigüiro, wonderful books that, through their illustrations and without the need for written text, invite children to create their own narratives.

This experience strengthens fundamental skills for learning to read and write: observing carefully, interpreting images, expanding vocabulary, expressing ideas, organizing sequences, and giving meaning to what we see. Each child can become a storyteller and discover that an image can also tell a great story.

In addition, Chigüiro is a character who is very close and meaningful to our children, as it represents an animal that is part of our environment and culture. A few days ago, we had a very special visit: Chigüiro came to the classroom with the story La chiva! It was an opportunity to imagine, talk, and enjoy together this unique way of reading.

We will continue exploring Chigüiro’s adventures and discovering that, when we open a book, we do not always need words to find wonderful stories; sometimes, all we need is to look, imagine, and let our creativity soar.
