Our Daily Routines

By Mónica Moreno

In First Grade, as part of the Virtues curriculum, students have been learning to recognize, model, and practice the routines that are part of their day, both at school and at home. Through the experience My Routines at Home and at School, they identified everyday procedures such as lining up to move around the school, checking the morning schedule to anticipate the day’s activities, and following routines in the auditorium. They also talked about what happens when they return home in the afternoon and the routines that help them organize this part of their day.

Throughout the experience, students connected these routines with the animals from our Level Constitution, which model the expected behaviors within our community.

At this stage of development, clear routines provide children with a sense of security, encourage autonomy, and help them anticipate what comes next and organize their day. By recognizing that both home and school have routines that help them take care of themselves, live well with others, and learn, students continue building habits that support their well-being and overall development.
