In a friendly chat with Mr. Gustavo Maglioni, we step into Tomas Contreras’s world, a student at Rochester School, to find out about the cool stuff that happened in his Real World English 7 class. Mr. Maglioni – What’s one project or assignment from your Real World English 7 class that you’re particularly proud of, and why?
Tomas – I am proud of the Vocabulary Log I created in class because I could enhance my vocabulary and I managed to describe my personality traits.
Mr. Maglioni – Can you share a specific example of how you applied something you learned in Real World English 7 to a real-life situation outside of school?
Tomas – I have applied the things I’ve learnt in class with my cousin who speaks English. I usually speak in English with him while we play video games online.
Mr. Maglioni – Were there any books or reading materials in the class that had a significant impact on you, and if so, how did they influence your understanding of the real world?
Tomas – I really enjoy working with the Impact and Great Writing book because I’ve learnt different things about intercultural learning. For example, we explored different aspects about the Festival of Colors in India and differences between Brazil and Chile. This was done while the teacher helped us comparing and contrasting our personality traits with those of our relatives.
Mr. Maglioni – What do you think is the most valuable lesson you’ve learned in your Real World English 7 class that you can use in your everyday life?
Tomas – I’ve learned how to ask for confirmation and agreement while using tag questions, and that’s been valuable. In addition, Mr. Maglioni and all the teachers in Rochester School have been very patient and kind with me. I feel motivated and that I can achieve different things in my life.

Mr. Maglioni – ¿Cuál es un proyecto o tarea de tu clase de Real World English 7 del que te sientes especialmente orgulloso, y por qué?
Tomas – Estoy orgulloso del Registro de Vocabulario que creé en clase porque pude enriquecer mi vocabulario y logré describir mis rasgos de personalidad.
Mr. Maglioni – ¿Puedes compartir un ejemplo específico de cómo aplicaste algo que aprendiste en Real World English 7 a una situación de la vida real fuera de la escuela?
Tomas – He aplicado las cosas que aprendí en clase con mi primo que habla inglés. Normalmente hablo en inglés con él mientras jugamos videojuegos en línea.

Mr. Maglioni – ¿Cuál crees que es la lección más valiosa que has aprendido en tu clase de Real World English 7 y que puedes aplicar en tu vida cotidiana?
Tomas – He aprendido cómo pedir confirmación y acuerdo al usar Tag Questions, y eso ha sido valioso. Además, Mr. Maglioni y todos los profesores en la Escuela Rochester han sido muy pacientes y amables conmigo. Me siento motivado y siento que puedo lograr diferentes cosas en mi vida.
