Aprendiendo sobre mascotas: lenguaje, creatividad y experiencias significativas

Esta semana, los estudiantes de Pre-Kinder dieron inicio a la unidad sobre mascotas, explorando este tema de manera significativa, creativa y cercana a sus experiencias cotidianas. A través de diferentes actividades, los niños fortalecieron sus habilidades comunicativas mientras ampliaban su vocabulario y desarrollaban nuevas formas de expresión.

Durante la semana, participaron en manualidades de sus mascotas favoritas, canciones, dibujos y primeros ejercicios de escritura que les permitieron comunicar ideas y compartir experiencias personales. Además, la lectura de cuentos sobre mascotas abrió espacios de conversación en torno a sus características, cuidados y la importancia de tratarlas con amor y responsabilidad.

Uno de los momentos más especiales fue cuando los estudiantes llevaron sus mascotas de peluche favoritas al colegio, enriqueciendo la experiencia desde lo afectivo y lo simbólico. Esta actividad fortaleció la confianza y la expresión oral, ya que cada niño tuvo la oportunidad de hablar sobre sus propias mascotas y escuchar las historias de sus compañeros.

Como parte del proceso de aprendizaje, también reconocieron letras del alfabeto relacionadas con el nombre de diferentes animales y comenzaron a practicar la estructura “I have…”, logrando leer y escribir oraciones sencillas como “I have a dog” o “I have two cats”.

A través de estas experiencias, el aprendizaje del inglés se convirtió en una vivencia dinámica y significativa, donde el juego, la creatividad y la exploración favorecieron el desarrollo integral de los estudiantes y despertaron aún más su entusiasmo por aprender.

Learning About Pets: language, creativity, and meaningful experiences

This week, Pre-K students began their unit on pets, exploring the topic in a meaningful, creative, and engaging way connected to their everyday experiences. Through different activities, the children strengthened their communication skills while expanding their vocabulary and developing new ways of expressing themselves.

Throughout the week, students participated in crafts about their favorite pets, songs, drawings, and early writing activities that allowed them to communicate ideas and share personal experiences. In addition, reading stories about pets opened spaces for discussion about their characteristics, care, and the importance of treating animals with love and responsibility.

One of the most special moments took place when students brought their favorite stuffed pets to school, enriching the experience through emotional connection and symbolic play. This activity strengthened confidence and oral expression, as each child had the opportunity to talk about their own pets and listen to their classmates’ stories.

As part of the learning process, students also recognized alphabet letters related to different animals’ names and began practicing the structure “I have…,” successfully reading and writing simple sentences such as “I have a dog” and “I have two cats.”

Through these experiences, learning English became a dynamic and meaningful process in which play, creativity, and exploration supported the students’ holistic development and further inspired their enthusiasm for learning.
