Guardianes del Regalo de Dios: Nuestro Planeta

Los estudiantes de grado Transición vivieron una experiencia significativa al descubrir que la naturaleza y el mundo en el que vivimos son un gran regalo de Dios, y que cuidarlos con amor es una forma de agradecer y proteger la vida.

El logro principal de esta experiencia fue desarrollar la habilidad de valorar la naturaleza y el mundo actual como el hogar que debemos cuidar y preservar. A través de actividades creativas, los niños construyeron una maqueta de la sostenibilidad en la que representaron distintas acciones para cuidar el planeta: sembrar árboles, ahorrar agua, separar residuos y mantener limpios los espacios que compartimos.

Además, fortalecieron la comprensión sobre cómo el aprendizaje en una escuela sostenible promueve la salud y el cuidado del medio ambiente, reconociendo las prácticas que ya se implementan en el Colegio Rochester para proteger la creación.

Durante la unidad, los niños también exploraron la ODS 14: Vida submarina, conectada con el proyecto integral del grado. Con la compañía de Water Wizard, el guardián del agua, comprendieron que cada gota cuenta y que pequeñas acciones —como cerrar la llave, no arrojar basura al agua y cuidar los océanos— nos convierten en verdaderos guardianes de la creación.

Así, los estudiantes de Transición iniciaron un camino para valorar, respetar y proteger la vida en todas sus formas, recordando siempre que la Tierra y sus aguas son el hogar que Dios nos confió.

Guardians of God’s gift: our planet

First Grade students lived a meaningful experience as they discovered that nature and the world we live in are a great gift from God, and that taking care of them with love is a way to give thanks and protect life.

The main achievement of this experience was developing the skill to value nature and today’s world as the home we must care for and preserve. Through creative activities, the children built a sustainability model that represented different ways to protect the planet: planting trees, saving water, sorting waste, and keeping shared spaces clean.

They also strengthened their understanding of how learning in a sustainable school promotes health and care for the environment, recognizing the actions already implemented at Rochester School to protect creation.

During the unit, the students also explored SDG 14: Life Below Water, connected to the grade’s integral project. With the company of Water Wizard, the guardian of water, they learned that every drop counts and that small actions—such as turning off the faucet, avoiding littering, and protecting the oceans—help us become true guardians of creation.

In this way, Kindergarten students began a journey to value, respect, and protect life in all its forms, always remembering that the Earth and its waters are the home God entrusted to us.
