Una parte fundamental de la clase de Castellano está vinculada al libro Yo conozco, a través del cual los estudiantes tienen la oportunidad de explorar diversos países del mundo, conociendo sus símbolos patrios, trajes típicos, gastronomía y tradiciones.
Hace pocas semanas, el protagonista fue Colombia: una ocasión especial para fortalecer en los corazones de los niños el sentido de pertenencia y el amor por su país.
Durante esta experiencia, descubrimos los símbolos patrios y comprendimos su valor como expresión de unidad e identidad nacional. También exploramos sitios turísticos, bailes tradicionales, platos típicos y la riqueza cultural que caracteriza a Colombia, despertando en los estudiantes orgullo y conexión con sus raíces.
Este acercamiento cultural no solo refuerza sus creencias sociales y lingüísticas, sino que también los prepara para ser ciudadanos globales: conscientes de su origen y respetuosos de otras culturas. Al conocer y amar su país, los niños construyen una identidad sólida que les permitirá proyectarse al mundo con apertura, respeto y orgullo de ser colombianos.
Intercultural learning: A journey around the world

A fundamental part of our Spanish class is connected to the book Yo conozco, through which students have the opportunity to explore different countries around the world, learning about their national symbols, traditional clothing, cuisine, and customs.
A few weeks ago, Colombia took center stage—a special opportunity to nurture in our PK students a deep sense of belonging and love for their homeland.
During this experience, we explored Colombia’s national symbols and understood their value as expressions of unity and national identity. We also discovered tourist destinations, traditional dances, typical foods, and the country’s rich cultural diversity, awakening pride and a strong connection to their roots.
This cultural approach not only reinforces their social and linguistic awareness but also prepares them to become global citizens—mindful of their origins and respectful of other cultures. By learning about and loving their country, children develop a strong identity that will allow them to engage with the world with openness, respect, and pride in being Colombian.
