Exploradores De La Arquitectura: Visita A La PTAR Del Colegio

Los estudiantes de Jardín se han preparado para una visita a la PTAR de nuestro colegio. Esta experiencia hace parte de la asignatura EMS y está conectada con nuestro currículo de sostenibilidad y nuestro proyecto creativo sobre arquitectura.

Esta ha sido una unidad altamente significativa para los estudiantes, ya que les ha permitido explorar su entorno desde un lente curioso y crítico. Preguntas como ¿cómo son nuestras casas?, ¿qué hace que la construcción de nuestro colegio sea única? y ¿qué características arquitectónicas tienen los edificios de nuestra comunidad? han guiado su proceso de investigación.

A través de observaciones, dibujos y conversaciones, los niños han comenzado a identificar características de construcción y sistemas que permiten que los edificios funcionen adecuadamente. Han comprendido que la arquitectura no solo se trata de cómo se ven los espacios, sino también de cómo están diseñados para responder a necesidades específicas.

La visita a la PTAR les permitirá descubrir que la arquitectura también tiene un impacto directo en el medio ambiente. Los estudiantes han aprendido que nuestro colegio cuenta con un sistema diseñado para reducir el consumo de agua y mitigar el impacto en los cuerpos de agua mediante el tratamiento adecuado de las aguas residuales.

De esta manera, comprenden que detrás de cada construcción existen decisiones responsables que buscan cuidar el planeta. Esta experiencia fortalece la curiosidad, el pensamiento crítico y la conciencia ecológica, evidenciando que incluso desde pequeños pueden convertirse en guardianes del agua y ciudadanos sistémicos y responsables.

Architectural Explorers: A Visit to the School’s WWTP

Kindergarten students have been preparing for a visit to the school’s Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP). This experience is part of the EMS integrated subject and is connected to our sustainability curriculum and our creative architecture project.

This has been a highly meaningful unit for our students, as it has allowed them to explore their surroundings through a curious and critical lens. Questions such as What are our homes like? What makes our school building unique? What architectural features can we identify in buildings within our community? have guided their inquiry process.

Through observations, drawings, and conversations, students have begun to identify construction features and systems that allow buildings to function properly. They have learned that architecture is not only about how buildings look, but also about how they are designed to meet specific needs.

The visit to the WWTP will help them understand that architecture also has a direct impact on the environment. Students have learned that our school has a system designed to reduce water consumption and mitigate the impact on natural water bodies through proper wastewater treatment.

In this way, they understand that behind every construction there are responsible decisions aimed at caring for the planet. This experience strengthens curiosity, critical thinking, and ecological awareness, showing that even at an early age, students can become water guardians and responsible, systems-thinking citizens.
